PAPERGEMS: Whimsical, magical functional paper creations

APRIL 2004: The Journey of Journaling

Welcome to PAPERGEMS' musings:
"There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you." Maya Angelou

HOW DO YOU TELL YOUR STORY?
Recently I was inspired by, of all things, a bag of grass clippings. I transformed these organic fibers into paper, then into books and vessels, which I am dubbing the “Beijing Grass Series”.  By by combining simple materials I found with a bit of imagination I am telling my story.  Now, take a moment to look at your immediate surroundings, hone in on the paper you see about you and imagine, "How do those papers tell your story?"

LATEST CREATIONS:
Custom designed journals are just the place to record your bit of history.  Here are a couple of PAPERGEMS' latest creations.  The journal, far left, invites the owner to "Change worry to wonder," while writing freely into the accordion gem.

THE 100 BEIJING JOURNALS PROJECT:
Seeing some results of this massive journaling project has been heartwarming. The Chinese press has splashed some ink on magazines and newspapers around Beijing and I have made many new friends. Those of you in Beijing on Saturday, May 8th @ 7pm please come celebrate the 66th day of this project. Stop by the Pass By Bar (in the Houhai area) to pick up or drop off a journal. Never before, in Beijing, has there been a collaborative project like the 100 Beijing Journals. This is your chance to contribute your images, whims and record some history. Share your story!

MORE CREATIONS:
Copper wire twists with turquoise to embellish the special birthday journal right.  Journaling can be meditative, easy and allows a place for your stories to have presence.  Email me so we can chat about creating a special journal to hold your stories.

PAPERGEMS' website continues to undergo changes, share you thoughts with me.  All material copyright 2004 by Mary Wiseman, however, I would be thrilled if you forward this to your wonderful friends so they may also enjoy.
