PAPERGEMS: Whimsical, magical
functional paper creations
MARCH 2004: The Journey of Journaling
Welcome to PAPERGEMS' musings:
"An Optimist is the human personification of spring," Susan J. Bissonette.
YOUR JOURNALING ROUTINE:
How do you manage?
Honor yourself and your time
by matching your journal to fit your journaling space. My friend recently
commissioned me to create a special
Sweet Sixteen Birthday Journal,
to honor her daughter's special day. Now the sweet-sixteen-year-old, has a place
for all her special thoughts, photos and other whims. William Blake said, "I
must create a system, or be enslaved by another mans'." PAPERGEMS would be
honored to assist you in developing the best journaling system for your
lifestyle. Journaling really is easy, once you match a journal
to fit your life's routine. Email me
so we can chat about creating a special journal for you or someone you love.
LATEST CREATIONS:
Artella Online Shoppes, which celebrates the passionate spirit of the
artisan, now carries my
Chinese Take-Out Journal in a Box. PAPERGEMS' Little Black Book spins a
sassy take on this ancient Chinese secret. Tote your journal in this unique red,
silk covered, take-out box designed exclusively for The Shoppes of Artella.
Slide your "Little Black Book" into its own protective silky coordinating pouch,
then take-it-away wherever you go. A Velcro closure secures the flaps, which
conceal a small compact-sized mirror bound onto the inside flap. There's enough
room to stash your journal, journaling tools and other small secrets.
THE 100 BEIJING JOURNALS PROJECT:
Journals have been prepared, stamped and delivered to the Beijing pick-up
and drop-off points: Timezone 8 Bookstore, the Red Gate Gallery and the
Chinese Academy of Fine Arts. The
seeds, of this grassroots project, are being sown across the city and
interest for exhibitions in the USA, during 2005, have already come from the Center for Book
& Paper Arts in New York City. I anxiously await responses to the other
exhibition
proposals I have submitted. Those of you, in Beijing during the next 100
days, who desire to participate, please contact me and
I will ensure a journal reaches your creative
hands.
A LOVE OF READING:
Rediscovering my bookshelf, I have gravitated toward my well-worn copy of
"Finding Your Own North Star, claiming the life you were meant to live," by
author Martha Beck. Martha's slightly off beat, humorous writing
style has long been one of my favorites. When skies are cloudy and the stars are
not shining brightly enough for you to see your way, this is a must read.
PAPERGEMS' website continues
to undergo changes, share your thoughts with me. All material copyright 2004 by

friends so they may also enjoy, "The Journey of Journaling." If you no longer
