How do I use vintage postage?
Lick and stick! Occasionally you may need glue or double sided tape.
You can use any mint/unused USPS vintage postage on envelopes and postcards for outgoing mail in the United States. Vintage stamps still hold their face value. The denomination is normally printed on the stamp and easy to read. However, there are a few instances of stamps that do not have a value printed on them, see blog post for more info on these.
One vintage stamp is not enough postage necessary for mailing since the denomination is less than the current postage rates. You will need to add up your vintage postage to equal current postage rates. You can also use vintage stamps as decoration alongside forever stamps (Forever Stamps can be used to mail a one-ounce letter regardless of when the stamps are purchased or used and no matter how prices may change in the future).
